The Planning and Development Department provides and coordinates a broad range of programs focusing on job retention and creation, employment and training services, land use planning and resource conservation as well as housing and neighborhood preservation. The department integrates planning services with economic and community development activities through partnerships with local governments and the private sector. The Planning and Development Department consists of several divisions which include Community Development, Economic Development, Planning Division, and Workforce Development.

The Department is also affiliated with the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA) and staffs the Monroe County Industrial Development Corporation (MCIDC) and the Monroe County Sports Commission (MCSC).

Come Out and Play in Rochester! The Monroe County Sports Commission (MCSC) invites you to “Come Out and Play!” in Rochester, New York! Greater Rochester is an ideal place to hold a sporting event. Centrally located in Upstate New York, Monroe County is nestled along the southern shore of beautiful Lake Ontario and is bisected by the Genesee River and the historic Erie Canal.
RochesterWorks - Providing Businesses and Job Seekers with a Network of Quality Employment Resources RochesterWorks!, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation has been designated by the County of Monroe and the City of Rochester to administer the workforce development funds targeted for Monroe County.
Home Improvement Program Monroe County's Home Improvement Program (HIP) provides one-time grants and loans to income-eligible homeowners for home repairs and improvements in the suburban towns and villages.
COMIDA Projects Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks announces in the first three months of 2006, County-sponsored programs approved incentives for 25 local economic development projects. These projects will create 381 new jobs (within five years of project completion), retain 1,180 jobs, and invest over $60 million in Monroe County.
